Do something you already love
Host an event around your interests; art, games, food, creativity, movement, conversation, or anything that brings people together.
We fund it
Approved events receive funding (typically $100 - $1000) to cover costs for gathering.
We believe that anyone with a passion can be a catalyst for connection. This is your chance to create something meaningful without having to build it alone. As a Thread Leader, you receive the funding, tools, and support to turn your interests into experiences that strengthen connection and belonging.
Why Become A Thread Leader?
Introverts welcome (seriously)
You don’t have to be loud, outgoing, or “the host type” to do this.
This is a low-pressure, authentic way to share something you care about with others at your own pace, in your own style.
We support you
You'll get simple educational tools, event guidance, and promotional assistance to help make your gathering successful.
Build real connection
Not Networking. Not forced interaction. Just shared experiences that make connection feel natural.
Make a real impact
You're not just hosting a gathering, you're creating connections that can lead to belonging and better mental health for yourself and others.
How It Works
We've made the process simple so you can focus on what matters - bringing people together
1
Submit Your Application
Fill out a short event application that includes your concept, event details, estimated costs, expected attendance, and how your idea helps create connection and belonging.
2
Get Approved + Funded
If selected, we will work with you to fund your gathering in the easiest way possible (prepaid tickets, invoiced from vendor, reimbursement, etc.)
3
Design Your Gathering
We provide the tools, resources, and support to help you succeed, but this is truly your thing so make it your own. Our resources include educational tools consisting of best practices for creating a deeper sense of belonging at your gathering to make the most of the groups time together.
4
Lead the Experience
Host your real-life experience. Whether it’s a creative workshop or a community meal, you lead the way in creating authentic relationships.
5
Share the Impact
Relay the outcomes of your event. Your feedback helps us measure our collective success in reducing social isolation and strengthening mental health.
What We Ask of You
We keep it simple but there are a few key responsibilities to make the model work.
Event Coordination
Plan and facilitate a local gathering that fosters authentic human connection, using your unique passions to bring people together.
Community Inclusion
Ensure that every participant feels safe, seen, and valued throughout the experience, actively working to prevent social isolation.
Grant Stewardship
Responsibly manage the provided funds to cover all necessary event costs, materials, and snacks for your attendees.
Impact Sharing
Ensure all post-event surveys are complete during/after gathering. Provide a brief recap and a few photos post-event so we can celebrate the connection created with the wider collective.
Built To Be Accessible
All gatherings operate on a “pay what you can” model. Any contribution from attendees supports The Red Thread Collective’s mission and helps us continue creating accessible opportunities for connection in our communities.
That means no one is excluded because of cost and your event becomes a space where anyone can show up and belong.
Funded gatherings are coming in September 2026!
Applications are open now! Fill out the form to be considered. Your idea is the only expertise we need.
